Locking Device For our Full CoversAdd a little security to your full cover by adding a locking device. Again, customers asked us if we could design our full cover so that it could not be stolen, so we came up with a solution this is a great deterrent and may prevent theft? The trouble with offering any sort of locking device for our covers is that the security of the cover is only as good as a knife or a pair of scissors being fabric made. However, in saying that we have come up with a device that may help, we call it our locking device option. All it is is a couple of brass or stainless eyelets and an extra piece of material that pull together (eyelets meet) and then you can enter a padlock into the two eyelets. Because the "leg strap" on all our full covers goes in between the pivot point that is mounted to the boat and the leg just under the power head section because it passes through that gap and then added a padlock it would be virtually impossible if nothing difficult to steal your cover. Again thieves don't release that our covers are custom made and only fit the motor they are made for, but still they may steal them hoping for a good fit. Personally I would recommend that you ask to have printed in small letters on our cover you driver licence number, boat registration or any sort of mark that would identify your product. Maybe small print under our logo is a great spot so if yo do suspect it may be your cover it's east to look and see. This may also mean getting your boat name printed on the cover/s this is another great way to deter theft. Just in case you are worried your cover is covered by most good marine insurance companies and having a locking device will surely help reduce your premium? As another safety method to identify your covers when you receive them you will find a label sewn into the lining and it has our details and a serial number. All components of our covers have this label sewn in. So if you buy a Combo which is the leg section the top section (joined in the middle you never need to separate them) and the totally separate Splash cover each one of those has this number sewn into them. When you get your cover please note your number down in your outboard manual or somewhere safe so if they are stolen you may have a better chance of proving they belong to you. Outboard Covers Australia DO NOT keep a record of these numbers for you sorry.
